Republican Racism Will Make Party Obsolete

Wow, “shuck and jive” Sarah? Really?

Re-posted from The Huffington Post

Well I guess this puts all the talk about a “post-racial America” to rest.

The Associated Press released a report on Saturday that shows a majority of Americans, in fact an increasing number, still harbor prejudice against blacks and Hispanics. 51 percent of all Americans expressed anti-black attitudes, compared with 48 percent in 2008 when the president first won election. Another AP survey showed 57 percent of Americans expressed anti-Hispanic feelings.

The results were not actually surprising. Once we got past the euphoria of Obama’s historic win, which was only possible with a multi-colored and multi-ethnic coalition, it became clear that the progress we gained was also going to result in a significant and predictably ugly backlash as well. Those who were not ready to see the long line of similarly pigmented men in the most powerful position on Earth were surely not going to sit back and not try to stir things up a bit.

  1. What year are we in? Damn. These statistics prove the lack of love (if not hate) that perpetuate the systems of oppression and disenfranchisement. #WarOnDrugs #Stop&Frisk #Prisons4Profits #School2PrisonPipeline #PrisonIndustialComplex

    • Earnest Harris says:

      It really is depressing in a way that half of those polled would have negative feelings about blacks and Hispanics. Being a black man, sometimes you just don’t know how to compute that in your brain. And having to somehow prep our children who are half black and half Mexican-American, therefore covered by both sides of that poll. Wow.

  2. You know, I have an anti-racist attitude. It just boils my blood to hear stupidity in the form of racism. Some people don’t realize how stupid they really are. One minute you say you believe in Jesus and the holy bible and the next you say you don’t like black people – hello??? If you believe in the bible (or several other religions’ books) you can’t be racist because that bible says we all came from the same 2 people meaning we are all the same race. You can’t have it both ways. Either God/Jesus loves all people or he only loves one color of people and guess what, there’s no way Jesus was white.

    Then you have these white supremacists idiots who go around using words like “aryan” and swastikas. Both of those were ripped off from the Indus nations. So wake up idiots and start realizing the err of you ways. You can’t hate anyone of color and name yourself after them. (Aryan specifically means brown people from the Indus region historically and the swastika is the symbol of Lord Ganesh in Hinduism.)

    And for the record, since this is a politically based post, there’s scant few non-mixed Americans left. So all these people running around announcing their race based only on the color of their skin are ignorant of their own culture. America isn’t called a melting pot for no reason. With all the Indian (Native American) massacres, invasions from other countries and the known possession of US land by other nations in our history, no one here should be professing themselves to be a pure white person. Somewhere along the lines there’s a high probability that someone of another race mixed into their family.

    Sorry for the rant. I’m just dealing with some idiotic racist myself right now and it’s on my last nerve. He’s Native American and has the audacity to hate anyone of color – including brown!!

    Racism = Stupidity….Period!
