A Recognition of Multi-Ethnic Beauty

Beauty in diversity.

Another sign of progress is that the women’s beauty products business, Carol’s Daughter, is launching a new line and image focused on multi-ethnic women. Way to go for recognizing the obvious, that more and more people don’t fit into obvious boxes and skin tones and hair textures.

They are launching the campaign with three Mixed ladies, model Selita Ebanks, who is Jamaican, Irish, Indian and African-Amrican, model Cassie, who is Black and Filipina, and Solange Knowles, who is African-American and French Creole. Great choices.

Steve Stoute, the head of Carol’s Daughter, explained the new line this way:

“They will serve as cultural ambassadors in bringing forth this acceptance  that the definition of beauty is now colorless,” said Steve Stoute.  “There are no  longer boxes of white, black, Latina, Asian. More and more women are  checking the other box.” According to Stoute, the trio was chosen because aside from their beauty “they share the vision and embody the messaging in  their attitude, appearance, projects and core values.”

You gotta love progress.
